MapEditor is an application that lets you create maps in .pnmap format (Power Navigation Map), which can be used for navigation in PowerNavigation 2.00 on your device.
What's new in version 1.01:
- Fixed: bugs in export to GPX format;
- Fixed: 'memory leak' bug with big maps;
- Improved: algorithm of map snapping;
- Added: datum support for maps;
- Added: copyright field in map format;
- Added: password for map editing;
- Added: device manager, now MapEditor can copy maps from PC to device;
A map consists of several layers, each layer has different level of detailed elaboration of shown information. One layer is enough to create a map.
Layer - is a picture in raster format.
You can use scanned maps in following formats as source files :
*.jpeg, *.jpg, *.bmp, *.ico, *.wmf (recommended format - *.bmp).
Each layer should be obligatory snapped to geographical coordinates (WGS-84).
It's recommended to use 2-5 points measured with high level of precision in order to snap a map.
To define snap points on a layer you should use a tool "Make Snap".
You should snap a layer after defining snap points:
Layers / Snap layer.
Note: After that you can also calibrate a map on your device, but it's recommended to
snap a map to some well-known coordinates.
How to snap a map?
- Launch MapEditor;
- Create a new map;
- In Map Properties dialog (Menu -> File -> Map properties) set datum corresponding to your map.
E.g., if NAD-83 datum is indicated on your scanned map, you should set this particular datum.
Note: the same datum is used for all layers of a map.
- Close Map Properties dialog;
- Add a new layer (Menu -> Layers -> Add Layer);
- Select a tool "Make snap" on the toolbar
and create snap
points on the layer. There must be at least two snap points for each layer;
- Snap a layer (Menu -> Layers -> Snap Layer);
- Save the map.
If there is more than 1 layer in your map, repeat steps 5 - 8.
Note: Every layer is snapped independently from the others. That's why snap points will be different for every layer.
-
During map creation you can create POIs and routes;
-
POI - points of interests;
Properties of a POI:
- Longitude;
- Latitude;
- Name;
- Description;
- Group;
You can use a tool "Make POI" to create a POI:
To make POIs' usage more convenient you can group them.
I. e.: Business, Private, Theaters, ...
Properties of a group:
Note: When you want to set a icon for a group, you can use some picture from Icons folder, which is supplied with MapEditor.
Route - several linked coordinates representing a route, which
can be used in navigation tasks.
You can use a tool "Make route" to create a route.
Converter
A special utility Converter is supplied with MapEditor. It lets you convert information into different formats.
Source:
- PowerNavigation 2 track (*.pnrtrack);
- PowerNavigation 2 route (*.pnroute);
- OZIExplorer waypoints (*.wpt);
- OZIExplorer track (*.plt);
- OZIExplorer route (*.rte);
- GPX (*.gpx);
- TomTom`s waypoints (*.ov2);
- current loaded map;
Destination:
- PowerNavigation 2 track (*.pnrtrack);
- PowerNavigation 2 route (*.pnroute);
- GPX (*.gpx);
- current loaded map;
Example: You can import information from a GPX-file right into your current loaded map.
Or you can export data from a file in *.pntrack format into GPX format and after that use this file in some other applications.
